WORSE THAN BRIGANDS.

BOERS AT KRAAIPAN

BOBBING AND MURDERING

NATIVES

KIMBERLEY, May 16

The yD.F. "Advertiser's" Kraaipau correspondent writes: —Eoers in four detached parties paid us a visit at two o'clock on Friday morning. They took possession of the kopje, whence they fired their guns on historic October 12, and after pillaging the natives living upon it, murdering two and seriously wounding three others, they started to creep up to Mitchelson's store, but wen discovered by the sentry on duty at the siding. The garrison at once stood to arms, and the mounted scouts turned out. At. break of dawn a Nordenfeldt gun opened fire on the enemy, with the effect that they immediately commenced to scatter in all directions. Captain Tupper (commandant), who was at Maritzani, arrived promptly on the scene, and followed up the retreating enemy for some miles, but eventually had to give up the chase owing to the veldt being fired and darkness coming on. Captains Tupper :j»nd Johnson did splendid work. One scout was seriously wounded in the chest. The treatment of the natives was shameful, and only goes to prove that the enemy are degenerating into barbarians. A later message says the enemy are still in the vicinity.
