THE TAKAPUNA ORPHANAGE.
His Lordship Dr. Lenihan, Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland, yesterday paid a visit to the Lake Takapuna Orphunage. Tin; sisters io charge welcomed the bishop, after which the new sehuolhouße in connection with tHe institution was inspected. The buikliufj measures seventy feet by thirty with a ten foot porch. The achoolhouse is substantially built, and is i-oofed with iron. Sliding doo'-s divide the room into two parts, and one of these, forty-six feet long, is reserved for divine service, though it cfin !\h ) !if employed for school purposes, v- structure is almost out of the s bands, and the formal open;'l tnke place in about a fort-: :••..,'i:. The old church is to be removed to another site, when it will be used as a presbytery. After luncheon the party looked over the estate, under the jnyidanee of Mr Colgan, steward, and his lordship expressed himself pleased with the improvements. The lads gave the bishop three hearty cheers as his carriage drove off to Devonport.
