A girl named May Thomson was arrested this naorniug by Constsible Dart on a charge of having on Friday last attempted to commit suicide betaking match-heads. The poison necessitated her removal to the Hos-
pital for a oouple of day*, but left no serious effects, and she was able to appear before the Court this pfternooii. When the girl's rash act v;as discovered, a sheftt of paper was found on her table, on which was written an advertisement for insertion in the "Star." It was addressed to an Otago friend, and stated that the writer could not live any longer, for "life was a misery."
