THE CANOE DISPLAY.

At a meeting of the Maritime Committee held at Mr R. R. Hunt's office this morning, it was finally decided, "That the Maori war canoe display take place in the harbour on the arrival of the Ophir." The arrangements tire, that 200 Maoris with three war canoes be invited to make the display. A .deputation waited on Mr Buxton, Traffic Manager of the Auckland Railways, immediately after the meeting, and made all arrangements for bringing the men and canoes to town. Subscription lists and boxes are being distributed about the city.
