WELLINGTON, this day.

During his visit to Australia the Premier intends to again urge that a cable between New Zealand and Aus- | tralia be laid by the Governments of, this colony and the Commonwealth. When last in Australia Mr Seddon advocated the undertaking- as one needed and profitable. The reply given by Mr Barton, the Federal Premier, was that.he thought private enterprise would meet all requirements. The Premier is convinced that the laying of a State-owned cable by New Zealand and Australia is within reasonable distance of accomplishment.
