THE PAPARO.

The s.s. Paparoa arrived iruiii Londou. via ports, shortly before 0 o'cloex last evening. Mr C. K. Earle, the steward in charge, ■reports:—The l'aparou left Plymouth at 0.45 p.m. on March 2, and experienced a moderate south-westerly gale, with a high head sea, across the Bay of Biscay. Teneriffe was reached at 2.35 a.m. ou the Bth, leaving again for Capetown at 2:20 p.m. the same date. Moderate north-east trades prevailed. The Equator was crossed In longitude 10 degrees west, and light southeast trades and slight head seas prevailed towards the Cape, which was reached at 7.4S a.m. on the 2-lth. Embarked mails and passengers, and left for Hobart at 0.10 p.m. the same date. Passed the Crozet Islands at 0.02 p.m. on the 30tb. For the next week line weather was experienced, which was succeeded by a moderate .southeast gale, with higii head sea. aud then strong north-westerly winds and thick,mlstv weather to arrival at Hobart at 3 a.m. on April 14. Discharged 400 tons of cargo, aud left again for Wellington at 0.10 p.m. the following day, and met with line weather on tlie run across the Tasmau Sea, arriving in Wellington at 0 a.m. on the 20th. Left again at 0.40 p.iu. .the same date, ami arrived as above, meeting hue wealner up tlie coast. The average rate of speed ot the steamer from Plymouth to Wellington was 19.07 knots por hour. The .steamer is under the command of Captain It. .laggard, the deck officers being: Chief, Mr A. \\. McKellar; second, Mr M. G. Euston; third, Mi* J Wordsworth; fourth, Mr W. Hewlett- lifth Mr .J. Boycott; laidship'men. Messrs H. Lord and J. Peacock: surgeon, Di* J Poster. Mr J. Evans is in charge ot the engine department, and has.with Ujni Messrs P. Wales, It, Hames, C. Ulttei, aim T. John, the refrigerating engineers being Messrs i Lee aud W. Dugdale. 'I he vessel leaves for Napfet aud the South about the cud of the week.
