BIRKENHEAD RIDING.
The census returns received by Mr. Joshua Jackson for the Birkenhead Eiding of the County of Waitemata show an. increase of 74 as compared with the totals for 1896. When the former census was taken the population was 360, whereas this time it totals 434.
