DIX'S GAIETY COMPANY.
There were but few vacant seats at the City Hall last night, when the long-looked for Miss Daisy Harcourt made her bow to a New Zealand audience. Miss Harcourt made a decided hit as a character impersonator. Her coster songs are rendered in a style of her own. Her "If You Want to Come In, Come In," quite brought down the house, and the other songs, "Not the Proper Way to Treat a Lady," and "The Girl With a Naughty Wink," were also loudly applauded. In addition to these, she had to add another song before the audience would let her go. Miss Harcourt should prove a strong drawing card for some time to coin,e. Amongst the other items on an excellent programme the singing of Mr. Wallace King calls for special praise, whilst Mr. Harry Gray (who is in his last week) caused roars of laughter. The Mintons, as usual, proved highly entertaining, and the Leslie Bros., Mr. Jem Marion, Mr. Harry Elliott and the rest of the company were entirely successful. The programme will be repeated tonight.
