(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.)
WAIHI. this day
Another lire occurred at Waihi about 6.lSu last evening. The mine whistles and lirebells rang an alarm, when it was noticed by the townspeople that the. NYaihi Company's smelting house nt the battery was ablaze. The battery fire brigade, assisted by some members of the town brigade, soon had a good pressure of water on the building, extinguishing- the fire in a' short time. The building was gutted, the end part being burnt. The fire occurred over the furnaces and then burst through the roof. The supply and direction of the water was excellent. The building was detached from the main battery, but the damage must be. considerable.
