FIRE AT WHANGAREI.

WHANGAREI, this day
There was a narrow escape from an extensive lire here at 9 o'clock last night. The tire started in Perry's boarding house. It originated from a defective chimney five,-and caught the boxing. Sergt. Moon aud Constable Sefton, assisted by willing hands, succeeded iii overcoming. the flames..t The damage is estimated tit between ._:.O and 1.40. The building' and furniture are. insured in the Norwich Union Co.
