CABLE REPAIRS

SYDNEY, January 25.

The Eastern Extension Cable Company's steamer Recorder has arrived to effect repairs to the cable between New Zealand and Australia. The fault exists about 400 miles off'the New Zealand coast. The vessel will also shift the Australian end of the cable to the new station recently erected at La Perouse. Owing- to the interruption of the Sing-apore cables some alteration in the vessel's instructions may take place, as the company's other repairingl steamer, the Sherard Osborne, is at Hongkong1.
