RAILWAY RETURNS.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, this clay.
Complete railway returns for the four-weekly period, ended January sth, show a gratifying increase under all heads. More passengers by 114,950 travelled as compared with the corresponding period last year, and 14(57 extra season tickets were issued, the revenue showing an increase of £6010 for the seven months ending January sth. Passengers increased by 401,570, compared with the corresponding period of last year, and 11,279 more season tickets were sold, the revenue showing an iuerease of £10,037. When it is considered this additional revenue of over £10,000 is independent of the fact that concessions in rates granted during the year amounting to £6000, this affords good proof of the large increase in traffic.
