TEMPERANCE CONVENTION.

-:. lirown, representing the Auckland Prohibition League. The Rev. Williams eompliniented the Primitive Methodist Church on its attitude towards the temperance question. Their church was, he said, so zealous an opponent of the drink traffic tliat it was too hot a place for a brewer or publican to be comfortable in. Other churches were falling into line with the Primitive Methodists on this question, and when all the churches were in. step, victory would be near at hand. The Tlev. J. Cocker, in replying for the Primitive Methodists, said their church had always been a temperance church, and had helped Ihe cause in every way it could. All its ministers in this colony were prohibitionists. He felt that the prohibition cause was winning. The Rev, E. Drake (Thames) spoke on the scientific aspect of the drink problem. Speeches were also made by Mr. W. S. Mrown and the Rev. .1. Clover. To-night there will be a conference soiree from f> till 7.30, to be followed by a .public meeting in the. church. Mr. .1. Watkinson will preside, and addresses will be given by the Tievs. W. C. Woodward and J!. Hall and Mr. Boothroyd..
