A.R.C. SUMMER MEETING.

THIRD DAY-

(By • "Hfppona.")

An- interesting programme- of. events 3s set down for decision at -Ellerslie tomorrow afternoon, and if the weather only proves fine another monster gatherins may' be confidently expected. The most interesting' item on the card la, of course, the annual contest for the Great Northern Derby. On past performances, this year the event looks like proving rather a good thing for the Hon. J. D. Ormond's Renown, whose running in the Railway Handicap would suggest that he has quite thrown off the soreness with which he was credited earlier in the week. Although I anticipate that the son of Dreadnought will be first home in the classic race, yet I fancy somehow that the victory will not bje a, runaway ono, aa considerable trouble may be expected from°Messrs Nathan's representative. 11l the Summer Cup Beddington, when in receipt of lllbs from the Napier colt, finised a good way ahead of him, and, as the son of Seaton Delavnl Is very well just

now quite a number of good judges thinK that he may be found equal to lowering the colours of the crack chestnut. Another race which looks like proving a good contest Is the A.R.C. Handicap of 11 miles. The quality of the cattle engaged in this is of the highest class, and the winner will take some finding.
