% DEFENCE OF THE TOWN.
LONDON, December 7.
With a view to providing defence beyond that afforded by the Town Guard of one ..hundred strong and upwards, hundreds of loyalists of all classes in Aliwal North gladly responded to the invitation to take up arms.
[Aliwal North is on the railway line, and on the border between Cape Colony and Orange Free State.]
