Blue .Book contains a letter found in the LandrOost's office at Bloemfonteitt;- written by Blignant, brother of thfe- late Orange State Secretary,.._n •which the writer expressed, fear that ■"Chamberlain would cheat us out of a ■war and a consequent opportunity of annexing Cape Colony and Natal, and ■forming a Republican United States South Africa." He added that 46,000 fighters were pledged to die to secure *he independence of South Africa.
