The Victoria has sailed for Adelaide, escorted by H.M.s. Royal Arthur.

Lord Hopetoun left the following" message: "People of Australia, —It is with feelings of pleasure and pride I greet the people of Unite/I Australia. 1 am very deeply conscious of the responsibility that rests upon my shoulders in being' selected as the first representative of Her Majesty of this great Commonwealth. He will proceed to Adelaide, where he will join the warship, and will fix the date of his landing- at Sydney when he reaches Adelaide. It will probably be December 15. : ■
