Colonel Pileher, in the battle on the 4th., spiritedly outflanked Commandaat De Wet's right, enabling Major-General Knox to clear the enemy from all their positions and drive them northard.
The garrison of Utrecht, in the Boutla-east of the Transvaal, repulsed an attack by 200 Bqers, killing six. General Paget had a four days' ifigljrfc with 2500 Boers with live guns, two pompoms, and a Maxim, under B'Sti Viljoen, at Reitfontein. On the third day, Major Cra'dock, of the New Zealanders, forming the British left flank, were Sieavilv attacked.
General Paget delivered a counter attack, which/enabled the Xew Zealauders to rush the Boer positions. Among the killed at Reitfontein Kras a Queensland Bushman, Private Wright, and a Victorian Bushman, Private Mackenzie. Among the severely ■wounded were: Queensland, Mounted Sergeant' Austin, Private Eiiarl; Victorian Bushmen, Private MeCurdy.
General French, operating in the Eastern Transvaal, expelled fifty Boers from .Losberg district. He captured, many prisoners and a thousand head of "cattle.
