VOLUNTEER NOTES.

(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.)

TAURANGA, this day,

An inspection parade of the Tauranga Mounted Rifles was held yesterday afternoon. Colonel Banks, fortyeight men and three officers were present. After putting the company through several movements, which were very. creditably executed, the colonel briefly addressed them, complimenting them on the progress they had made. Subsequently the officers and men were , entertained at afternoon tea in the' Domain by a number of ladies, who provided a splendid spread, which was greatly enjoyed. Colonel Banks inspects the Tupeke division of the company, 30 strong, to-morrow, and then proceeds to Whakatane and Opotiki to inspect the companies forming there.
