HACKETT. This-case-waa commenced-and-laated all last Monday afternoon, and was continued yesterday till 1 p.m., when Jar Brabant, S.Mv, reserved his decision till"thin morning. It was an action for £\'S -10/, balance alleged to be due on mining shares bought for defendant by plaintiff in January, 1897. The plaintiff- and Mr Hartley gave evidence for the prosecution, and the defendant and the late manager of the Zealandia G.M. Company (Mr Wallnutt) for the defence. Mr Hugh Campbell appeared for plaintiff and Dr. Laisliley for defendant. The defence v>-as —(1) The action was brought in wrong form, and, even if brought in right form, the plaintiff was not entitled to judgment, and (2) that even if the plaintiff's version of the transaction were accepted he had no case. The judgment of Ihe Court is reserved till Wednesday next. The case bristles with matters of great interest tc> all concerned in sharebroklng matters.
