The K.M.s. Mariposa, with the British mails dated August 25, left San Francisco on Wednesday last, due date.
■A-t Messrs A. Buckland and Son's Haymarket, at Albert-street to-day, several Clydesdales, on behalf of Mr W. Stribley, of. Mangpre, were submitted by Mr J- S. Bnckland, auctioneer. The' bay gelding Jack fell to MrU.Lendrum at" £18 ss, and Mr J. Shlaepper, of Pukekohe, nodded for the geldingDuke at £19 ss, and the gelding- Dick at £29, both of which became his property. Marquis of Salisbury was passed at a bid of 65 guineas, and the. bay stallion Young Elgin Ml to the nod- of Mr A Jamieson, of Pukekohe, at £16 10b, A four-year-old mare was knocked down to the bid of Mr A. Drake for £23.
