RETAIL CLOTHIERS HOURS.
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —There is a movement on foot among the clothiers and drapers of the city to bring about 10 o'clock prompt closing. On behalf of the assistants of the clothing shops especially, would you give the mutter as. much publicity as possible? We are now, some of us, working 14, 14*, and eveu 15 hours on Saturdays, and for this there is no need if the working men (and yonn"working.,,men too) would have- a little consideration for the shop assistants, who do not, Uke themselves, enjoy the Saturday half-holiday, and do their shopping before the hour-of closing. If shoppers will combine with employers and carry this none-too-early closing hour into effect, they will lie conferring a boon which only those behind a retail counter can adequately estimate. ■ Thanking you in anticipation,—l am, etc., ..Win. MUSKER.
