POLICE COURT.
THIS DAY,
(Before Mr. H. W. Brabant, S.M.)
Drunkenness. —For this offence Julia Driver and Henry Mills were each fined 5/,-in default 48 hours ; and 24 hours' hard labour respectively. Eliza Lestrange, before the Court on a similar charge, was discharged into the custody of the Salvation Army authorities.
Window-Breaking. — Henry Mills pleaded guilty to breaking six panes of glass, the property of Fanny Madden, and was fined £1, and ordered to pay the damage, ,£2 6/, in default 14 clays' hard labour. Vagrancy. —Bridget Paul, an elderly woman, pleaded guilty to being an idle and disorderly person, and was discharged into the custody of the Salvation Army authorities, they being willing to take her into their home again. Alleged-Assault and Kobbery.—Hugh Storey and Thomas Kennedy were charged with having, at Newmarket, assaulted and robbed one Francis Brook Wilkinson. The amount stolen vyas stated to be £1 fl/.. On the application of Chief Detective Grace the accused were remanded till Monday next.
