CRIMINAL SITTINGS.
(Before His Honor Mr Justice Conolly.)
ALLEGED CATTLE STEALING
The jury failed to agree in the charge against Win. Henry Palmer, that on May 19 last, at Tatarariki, he stole two heifers the property of W. H. Bradley. The jury were four and a half hours in deliberation when they were dismissed by Ilis Honor, who said he would rehear the case before a new jury ou Friday next. ALLEGED THEFT OF A COW. Whio Tanera and Tira Putiki pleaded not guilty to having at Duck Creek, near Pukeora, on June 28, stolen a cow the property of W. H. Laycock, a publican and farmer. The Court "heard evidence up till six o'clock last evening. This morning further evidence for the defence was heard. Mr C. J. Parr appeared for the accused and set up a defence that the cow belonged to the natives. His Honor summed up the case to the jury.
