THE AUSTRIAN INFLUX.

INTERCEPTED AT SYDNEY.

SYDNEY, September 2.

The Austrian Consul has interviewed Sir William Lyne, the Premier, with reference to about 50 Austrians who have reached Sydney, en route for New Zealand, the shipping companies having refused to carry them to their destination. Sir William Lyne cabled Mr Seddon, who'replied that he had warned the shipping companies several times that they would not be allowed to land the men in New Zealand. The Austrians have money, and there i.s no objection to their landing and remaining in Sydney.
