DEAF, DUMB AND BLIND ENTERTAINERS.
The deaf, dumb and blind entertainers appeared before a good audience at the Choral Hair on Friday. The whole entertainment was most unique and of. great interest to those present. ■ This is thefirst time that deaf mutes have visited the colony in the capacity of entertainers. The majority of people are incredulous when told that deaf mutes can be taught to talk and understand the ■ speech of others, and last night's entertainment must have been a revelation to many. The three methods of communication—manual, sigh and oral—were illustrated, and Mr Taylor gave a graceful pourtrayal of the "Charge of the Light Brigade."' Mr Morgan proved that the dumb could speak by reciting the National Anthem With.ease. Mr Taylor delighted the audience with his lightning sketches of various celebrities, and, with Mr Morgan, %
gave a couple of humorous, sketches of a very high standard; Mr Solomon, the blind comedian, kept the. audience ih roars of laughter, and showed his ability to extract music from all,' sorts 'of, unlikely instruments. .Mr Irwin sang the "Yeoman's Wedding," and was encored for his rendering of "The Old Folks At Home." This last was the gem o_ the evening, and moved many of-the audience to tears. Miss Drummond was very successful in songs, her voice being rich and expressive. The company, leave for the Waikato districts on Monday.
