Arrangements have now been completed for the' first appearance' in New Zealand' of the daring war correspondent, Donald. I Macdonald, who has suffered the terribl&"* fortune of war, having come; successfully through the long siege of Ladysmith. The season of four nights will be started-at trie Opera House on Thursday evening next, when a crowded audience Is assured. The box plan was* opened at Wildman's this morning, there being a big d'ema'tld for seats for the season. Donald -Macdonald is not numbered amongst, those * who criticise General .Sir Redvers Buller'a operations for the relief of Ladysmith. He says when he stood In the Boer trenches afterwards, 'and looked: over the position, he realised the stupendous; nature of the task set General Buller. When they gave credit to those Who had1 * conceived and executed brilliant strategical moves in other parts of. the war, arena, they ought not to forget one what had had the hardest task of any to per-r form, and had done It.
