SUNDAY NIGHT CONCEPTS.
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—l notice by the report of the City S Council's meeting that the Christian Endeavour Society had applied for the suppression of the above. Might I state that when in England four years ago I.travelled- a distance of nine miles One Sunday evening to Ashton -Hall, Birmingham, to attend one of these sacred concerts, when I found assembled 7000 people. There was no outcry by any Christian Endeavour 6r other societies, and I cannot see why, when high-class sacred soug or instrumental music is contributed Sunday night concerts should be disallowed, ana I am sure that many who would have been parading the streets have derived a benefit from th'ls source. This, I contend,we should take advantageof.andthe opportunity of spending a pleasant evening out of wind and rain with our wives and families under shelter. Instead of being confined to the fraternity of the street corner religious bodies.—l am, etc.j SEMPER IDEM.
