FOUND DROWNED.

This, morning a sailor ■on the s.s. ?akeha, lying at the Queen-street wharf, while engaged painting the ship, saw a body jammed under : a stringer. He at ojice gave information to Consto-hle McDonnell, who recovered the body and removed it to tha morgue. In the pockets was found a half return ticket, Auckland to Helensville, ahd < a return ticket by steamer froln Dar-> gaville to Helensville, which appear to be dated 1/8/1900, and to have been used on one journey. -There were nd; marks of violence on the body. ; ' '

Sergeant- Gordon communicated the facts to Dr. lie Arthur (Coroner), who decided to defer holding the inquest until 10 a.m. to-morrow, to enable the police to make inquiries as to the identity of the deceased. - j.
