COROMANDEL.

On Wednesday and Thursday evenings a concert was given at the Caledonian Hall by Mrs Skrine and pupils, assisted by several local amateurs, for the purpose of raising funds to provide comforts for patients and nurses at our hospital. The hall was crowded at each pertormanco, and all the items were rendered without the slightest hitch, reflecting great credit on me tuition bestowed on the performers by Mrs Skrino. On the lirst night the performance opened with a pianoforte solo, played by Miss Collier in her best style. Mr E. 1-1. Taylor tfho sang "The Bugler" (Pinsutl) and Out in the Deep" iliOhr), .having to respond to an encore. Mr J. Egan sang I I rust You Still," in good style. The living pictures "Goddess of the Sun," "Japanese Floral Fete," "In Gay Bohemia, in which were introduced operatic choruses, were splendidly performed by Mrs Skrine and pupils, and were greatly appreciated. Mr A. Chapman, who is a c ever entertainer gave a first class exhibition with clockwork figures Miss McCormick sang •'Remember Mo No More" (Koblnson) and was encored. The performance cone tided wUh a living picture. "All Nations," introduSng nftfcnal and patriotic songs. the nations represented being distingu shed by costumes and fIaSS. in tnis most painstaking stage manager.
