LECTURE ON BUDDHISM.
At the Y.M.C+A. Hall on Friday evening a lecture was given by the Rev. W. Gray Dlxon, on "The Three Lotus Gems of Buddhism." The hall was lllled to the doors, and the lecture was listened to with Intense interest and attention. An account of the symbolism of tlvo lotus was given., and the details of the three gems, the lotus of Buddha, the lotus of the law, and the lotus of the priesthood or community were described. The ro" ■)>'■ ciations of Gautana, the founder of . Ittnldhlm, were to.n, and the Buddhistic ethic* were criticised. The lecture concluded with descriptions of popular Buddhism, as observed in Japan by Mr. Dlxon, and a hearty vote of thanks was then accorded the lecturer.
