KOMATA REEFS CO.
I This company appear likely to be (rewarded shortly for their enterprise ,' in putting in a low level tunnel over :half a mile in length, in order to tap ' their ore bodies at a depth of 300 feet . below their previous lowest adit. This work has progressed steadily, though 'at times slowly, owing to a very hard I "belt of country which had to be con- • tended against <for the last 200 feet. ' However, a softer rock has been en- . countered, and not only has. much bet- ; ter progress been made, but reefing country is now being passed through, and the indications of the proximity of ore bodies are first-class. About a month ago a small reef was cut, and on last Friday another was met with, which has not yet been thoroughly i tested. It is not expected, however, to I meet the main body for another three or four weeks. The tunnel is in 2629 feet, 138 feet having been negotiated during the past four weeks. Progress is greatly expedited by the use of rock drills. The present prospects ot
this company are better than they nave been for the past eighteen . months.
