PLANTS POISONED BY ALCOHOL
In-order to observe me effect of alcohol on plant life, M. _ouis Levat administered some of the fiery fluid to a geranium through the soil. The leaves of the geranium at once began to turn yellow and gave off a peculiar etheric odour, symptoms of poisoning appeared, the rootlets turned black and seemed to have been burnt, the circulation stopped in the branches, the leaves dropped toward the earth, and in four days what had been a very beautiful plant was an alcoholic wreck. '
