"GKAPHIC" CUBBENt"numbeb.

OVEB FIFTY ILLUSTRATIONS

j The leading local features in the i "Graphic" this week are the splendid photogravures taken of the veterans , at Lord Ranfurly's "At Home." These, eogether with a full account of the entertainment, and those who took part in it, make up a singularly interiesting record of a unique event. Xot ;only the veterans, but all their friends and the general public should procure ; copies of the journal for the sake of 1 these pictures. The second local feaiture of the number is the series of ■pictures showing the different precautions taken here to exclude the .possibility of plague. The war pictures this week are peculiarly worthy iof notice. There are some sixteen ; beautiful engravings of the provision jrnade for the sick and wounded in j South Africa. A magnificent full-pape drawing depicts one of the most heroic episodes in the war, while another I shows a column in the act of marching ;into very hot action, in which case it iis the custom of the men to wave goodjbye to their comrades in reserve r Growers of chrysanthemums will find ! special interest in an article describ- ] ing ho%v to grow these beautiful flow-' ; ers large and in profusion without resorting to the methods of those who !grow for show only. The article is accompanied by some fine illustrations i The Paris Exhibition, the Great Fire |in Ottawa, the Indian Famine, the Defence of KimberJey, and the Native Funeral Customs afford subjects for a wealth of miscellaneous illustration. The reading matter of the journal is, as usual, copious in quantity and firstclass in quality.
