COROMANDEL, Wednesday,
INQUIRY INTO FIRE. 'An inquiry was held to-day at the Coromandel Hotel into the circumstances connected with a fire which destroyed a general store and dwelling belonging to Mrs J. E. M. Kelly on Monday morning last, before Capt, Swindley, coroner, Mr A. G. Hughes being chosen foreman of the jury. After hearing the evidence the jury returned a verdict to the effect that there was nothing in the evidence to show how the fire origin ated. °
PLAGUE PRECAUTIONS. The County Council authorities are making vigorous efforts at effecting -a cleaning up of premises at both the townships. The Council's inspector, in co-operatien with the police, is engaged in a bouse tc house visitation. Notices have been issued to persons occupying premises that are not in a satisfactory state of cleanliness.
