The. annual meeting1 of the Old Chums' and Schoolfellows' Association will be held in the Anchor Hotel to-morrow (Wednesday) evening. A requisition is being" extensively Signed asking- Mr J. H. Witheford !to allow himself to be put in nominaI tion for the City seat. The following1 is the text of the reqiiisitiorr.—"To IJ. H. Witheford, Esq,—Dear Sir,—We. ! the undersigned electors of Auckland ■ City, in' view of the excellent services rendered hy you in the past, and being iof opinion that, apart from all party considerations, j-ou are the one most qualified at the present juncture to reI pi-esent this city in the House of !■ Eepresentatives, respectfully request I that you will allow yourself to be put lin nomination as a candidate for the seat rendered vacant by the lamented death of our late member, Mr W. ' Crowther. In the event of your consenting to be nominated, we beg to : assure yon.that we shall do all in our power to ' secure- your return." Mr Witheford has already announced that .if it is the general wish of the citizens of Auckland that he should contest , the City seat he is prepared to place j hia services at their disposal.
