HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The adjourned meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers on Friday evening. The Finance Committee in their report upon the financial position oi the Council recommended that irrecoverable rates amounting to £89 12/ should be written off the books, that all rates nnd arrears not paid at the 31st March next should be sued for, that a special rate of 5d in the £ should be struck to pay the interest on the £3000 loan, and that the Council endeavour to raise a loan to pay off the present one, with n view to reducing the rate of interest. The report, with the exception of that part referring to the striking of the special rate, was carried by five tc four.
