MAY QUJCiON iJETLILN. £914 FROM 591 TONS. During- the past month the May [Queen of Hauraki Company treated ,591 tons of ore for a return of ->4. o/.s. |.1 clwt..of gold value £944 1/8. This 'is the result of 21 actual working days operations. At the mine in the May Queen section the No. 7 level has .reached the junction of the No. 4, and | north-west lodes thus securing excellent ventilation. At the junction the combined thickness of the two ore bodies is about 3ft and the whole of the ore is being forwarded to the battery for treatment. The drive is now being pushed ahead along the junction and payable ore is being secured. The I whole of the water.in the May Queen section, which formerly ran along- Xo. . level, now finds iis way through the. reefs and winzes down to No. 7 level, from whence ir is being.raised back to .No. G level by means of a Bin, Cameron pump, which is being worked I from eight to nine hours per day, in-k-hiding- Sundays. The Saxon No. 1 reef is a fine compact body of heavily mineralised ore, about lSiu. thick, and when the junction is reached, Mr Park anticipates that payable gold will be met with. At No. (. level sloping- is still being carried on upon the Cardigan Nos. 1 and 2 reefs, and the Ore j coming to hand is of a highly payable 1 character.
