IN BANKRUPTCY.

William Pemberthy Ford, tailor, of Coromandel, filed a petition in bankruptcy on Saturday. In his sworn statement the ( bankrupt stated that he had been carrying on business in Coromandel for about four years. When he took stock in January. 1898, he was £75 to the good, but owing to dulness of business he got into difficulties in 1899, and was sued by Mr Hodgson for £100. He then called his creditors together and assigned his estate, carrying on the business at a salary of £3 per week. He was to pay oft" £50 per month, and to pay cash for everything- he wanted. He could not carry out this arrangement, and was directed to file. The liabilities were £ 393 2/,. due to seven unsecured creditors. The assets were: stock-in-trade, £104 9/4 book debts, worth £60; cash in hand, £2 8/; furniture, £15; total, £181 17/4. Deficiency £211 4/8.
