Cattle: At the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday fat stock was yarded in barely averago numbers.and the quality throughout was not up to the previous week with the exception of a draft of cows from the Waikato. Beef was better worth, and sold at from IC/6 to IU/ per ICOlbs; .cow's, 14/ to 10/. Steers sola ax from £5 i/ti to £8 7/6; no heavy weights yaraeu. uowes, £3 5/ to iG 12/6; a drtUt oC 16 averaging £ii 8/9. Dairy cows at from m ii/U to £15 17/6; dry cows, £1 lj/ to Hi IT/. At Papakura on Wednesday, notwithstanding the continued dry weather.there was a good muster of ail sorts. Liaiij' cows sold at from £3 1&/ to A 6 Ihj; k'A.V cows, a\ 7/ to Hi It)/; fat do., x.-a W to i,a 5/; grown steers, £3 17/ to XI ii/; carves, 15/ to £1 5/.
Sheep: The Newmarket Yards were fairly well filled on Tuesday, and sheep advanced fully a shilling per Head on last week's quotations. Fat wethers sold at from S/9 to 13/9; ewes, 7/9 to 11/8; lambs, in fair supply, showed improved prices, and sold at from 5/9 to 10/6.
Pigs: Scarce, and sold at from 10/6 to £1 17/.
Horses: At the Durham Yards on Friday horses were brought forward in usual numbers, and for those oJ; a good stamp bidding was high, and almost without exception everything yarded was sold. Heavy draughts realised from £17 10/ to £24 17/G; medium do., £10 10/ to £17 7/B; hacks and light harness, £3 15 /to £9 12/6; weeds, from 15/ to 32/6. The hurdle racer Verdi brought 27 guineas.
At our weekly auction sale on Tuesday we offered 1041 hides, including a number of salvaged ones, 20 bales and 27 bags of wool, 579 sheepskins, and S packages tallow, all lines being cleared at satisfactory prices. Quotations are as follow:—Hides: Prime stout ox, 52d to W.d; heavy stout, old to 53d; light and medium,4id tc sd: cow 4§d to Aid; stags', 3d to 3id; calf, 5d to sid; kip, 4d to 4-Jd. Sheepskins: Salted pelts, 1/4 to 2/4; lambs', 1/6 to 2/3; dry, 4d to Gd cheaper. Wool: Crossbred, 5d to sid; merino, 7d to Sd; lambs', 4?d to sd. Tallow, 17/ to 22/. Horsehair, 1/ to 1/4; tails, 11. Maize: Sydney market was slightly weaker this week, but as supplies were small 2/4 was obtained for all available parcels. Oats: Oat market is very firm at 2/6, ex store. Potatoes: Market a eas ci present quotation being *£3 10/ at rail for best; poor lots neglected. Cheese and butter: Oualitv coming to hand has fallen off a not show any alteration.
