PATRIOTIC FUND.

ST. LUKE'S, MT. ALBERT. On Thursday evening last a good concert and display of Capt. Caughey's company of volunteers took place on behalf 'of tlie Patriotic Fund, the proceeds to be devoted to the special needs of the Auckland contingent fighting in South Africa. Mr John Bollard, M.H.R., presided. The enthusiasm was splendid and striking. Patriotic songs were admirably sung and encored, and Mr Clarke recited "The Absent-Minded Beggar." The crowded audience seemed much inspired.and gave about £15 to the Patriotic Fund—more is yet to come. The Rev. Mr Chapman made a good speech. The evolutions, etc., of the volunteers gave great pleasure! The Vicar (Rev. F. La'rkins) expressed himself as honoured by the patriotic meeting being held in their parish hall. A. _er cheers for volunteers, singers, etc.. the National Anthem was sting, and three cheers given for the Queen. -
