(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
CHRIST.CHURCH, this day.
The committee of the Pioneer Amateur Bicycle and Athletic Club has selected the following team to represent the club at the championship meeting- at Wellington on February -j rj-. \y ji Simpson, one mile and three miles flat; W. Kain, 100 yds, 150 yds and 440 yds flat; C. Sharper, high fnmp and long jump; A. Juriss, hammer throwing and weight putting; J. M 1 Lynskey, half mile flat; and A. H. Joseph, weight putting, high jump and half mile. Mr Grierson has undertaken the management of the team. At a meeting of the Council of the League of New Zealand Wheelmen, helcf last nV;ht, challenges against the, rio-ht of E. Reynolds .to represent the League in the world's championships to b&e held in Paris in August or September were received from J. Chalmers Ken. Lewis, G. Sutherland and A C ' Forbes. The Council declined to accept Lewis' challenge on the ground that he is not a New Zealander, and that of Forbes as he has been so long absent from the colony as to debar him from representing it. It is state* that Sutherland is now on his way over from Australia. A test meeting at Christchurch will probably be held about the. end of the month. Sutherland and Chalmers will first compete against eagh other, and Reynolds, the Council's nominee, will meet the victor.
