MAORIS OFFERING.
During the sitting of the Selection Committee half a dozen Maoi'is. have come forward and proffered their services. . They are fine athletic .young fellows, come of a fighting- stock, and have reputations for pluck and stain? ma, won in hand-to-hand encounters in the football ■ field. The committee hns had to decline their offer, as no native or alien troops are permitted to'be employed on British battlefields.
