PAKURANGA HUNT CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING,
The annual meeting of members of the Pakuranga Hunt Club "was held yesterday at the office of the Auckland Racing Club, Durham-st. Mr H. T. Gorrie, the Master, presided. There was a good attendance of members.
The statement of receipts and expenditure for the year ending 30th I November, 1899, showed the receipts I had been £394 8/1, £200 being received from the Auckland Racing Club and subscriptions £ 170. The expenditure amounted to £339 7/1, leaving a credit balance of £55 1/. The assets were set down at £755 1/, which is £405 1/ over liabilities, represented by mortgage on kennels, £350. The chairman said that the chib was really in a better position than last year*by £50, which he thought was very satisfactory. •; ; Mr W. Read Bloomfield said the club was to be congratulated oh the state of its. finances. He moved the adoption of the balance-sheet, which motion was seconded by Mr Crowe, and unanimously agreed to. Mr Bloomfield1 proposed that Mr H. T. Gorrie be re-elected Master. He had filled the position in a generous way, and he was in touch with the farming community,. They could not put a stronger man in the position. Mr Gorrie said he had decided not to take the position for a second term, and had told his friends this all along". . On the motion of Mr W. Mclaughlin ■ Mr J. S. Buckland was elected to the position of Master. Mr W. A. Carmina was elected hou. treasurer, and Mr R. P. Kinloch was elected hem. secretary.
The following- additional new members were added and elected to the committee :—Messrs Crowe, Somers, Schnackenberg-, and Moody. Previous members of the committee were also re-elected with the exception of Mr R. Kenwood, who is absent. The old committee re-elected were: —Col. Dawson, W. McLaughlin, V. K. Taylor H. Laxon, W. E; Bloomfield, H. 0. Nolan, W. Percival. J. G. Ralph, A. R. Harris, 11. C. Tonks, J. Grey, W. Paul, E. Ellet. ' It was agreed that no horse be .allowed to take part in Hunt t Club events that had competed in an open race six months previously. It was agreed to affiliate with the Association of New Zealand Hunt Clubs, and it was also resolved that fiye attendances at club's _uneets should qualify a horse to compete in Hunt.-Club events. ' It was resolved that horses elegible to run in farmer's races must be the property, of bona fide ' farmers over whose- land the club has permission to hunt. . ' It was further resolved that the Auckland Racing Club be asked to allow two members of the Hunt Club to be associated with M/Evett in the handicapping- of Hunt Club events, the members to be nominated by the committee of the: Hunt Club. It was agreed to send a letter of condolence to the relatives oi the late Mr J. P. A. Philson. : . . The sum of £5 5/ was devoted to the local contingent fund and hi »l towards the fund being raised to erect a stone over the grave of the late Father Walter McDonald. A tresspass committee was also vote of thanks was accorded the retiring master, Mr H. 1. >-uoi;rfe, and the farmers,who so liberally allowed members to hunt, over their properties. ' ■ • . -.. .
