The erection of the battery is completed AA'ith the exception of the tailing's pits. A trial run was made today, when the machinery ran smoothly and gave every satisfaction. Permanent crushing operations Avill be commenced at the end of the month. The tram line which connects the mine witih the battery is also completed. It is' twenty chains long. The plant consists of two steam stamps, Avhich are equal to 10 ordinary stamps, and are capable of treating' 10 tons per.day. At the mine 100 tons of quartz are paddocked ready for treatment. Driving' in the Sheet. Anchor reef is proceeding, and payable ore, shoAving gold freely, is .being broken out. It is probable another trial parcel will be treated at the School of Mines in a few days.
