GRACE DARLING.

Splendid progress has been made by the contractor, Mr George Fraser, in erection of this company's 20 stamper battery at Waitekauri. Only eight weeks have elapsed since the contract was taken, and the battery is already almost completed. The. vats, etc., have still to be. made, but' the whole contract.will, at the. present rate of progress, be finished by the end of January, when crushing operations will commence on a large supply of ore already at the paddock. The battery is well laid out, minimising the handling of ore and consequently the expeuse of treatment. The work is being1 carried out under the capable supervision of Mr Cherir, manager for the company.
