SWIMMING.

The annual meeting of the members of the Auckland Swimming Club was held last evening in the Amateur Sports Club rooms. Mr S. E. Hughes presiding. Consideration of the report and balance-sheet was deferred. The following officers were elected: — Grand patrons His Excellency the Governor and the Admiral of Her Majesty's Australasian Squadron; patrons. His Worship the Mayor (Mr D. Goldie), Messrs J. M. Brig-ham, J. J. Holland, M.H.E., W. *J. Napier (chairman Auckland Harbour Board), W. Crowther, M.H.It., Goo. Hutchison, M.H.R., Leo Myers; president, Mr S. E. Hughes; vice-presidents, Messrs J. W dittos, J. T. Julian, R. W. St. Clair, W. B. Eyre, C. P. Luckie, Jas. W. Russell, Albert Goldwater, and the Rev. G. Mac Murray; directors, Messrs E. J. Carr, J. T. Armitage, 11. IT. Dacre; hon. secretary, Mr T. V. Frost; assistant-secretary. Mr 11. G. Chcvis; treasurer, Mr 11. 11. Dacre; committte, Messrs J. Russell, I. IT. Hughes, 0. Sainty, P. J. Bailey, G. A. Tyler; handicapper, Mr VV. B. Eyre (also elected a life member, in recognition of his services to the club). Mr J. T. Annitage was nominated vice-president of the Sports Club and Mr A. Goldwater vice-president, to the N.Z.A.S.C. It was decided to recommend that the costume for the championship events be the same as that in use in GreatBritain'and Australia. The action of the Association in connection with the amalgamation was discussed, and hopes were expressed that the negotiations would be soon completed. Hearty cheers wore given Messrs Crowther and Hutchison, M.H.R.'s, for their services in proem-ing the vote to the Swimming Association. Mr R. W. St. Clair detailed the correspondence with regard to the proposed visit of a team to San Francisco. Several new members were elected.
