THE KAPOWAI FIND.

WELCOME JACK RETURN.

£2SO FROM 2\ TONS

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, this day.

The Welcome Jack (Gumtown) parcel of ?A tons treated at the Thames School of Mines yielded 2850zs lodwts of gold, valued at £280. This serves to further illustrate the importance of the new find at Kapowai. The.owners of the claim, it will be remembered, sent five tons of stone to the Thames, half to the School of Mines, and half to the May (hieen Extended Company's battery. That treated at the latter battery yielded bullion worth £203 15/6, and the other 2h tons, as stated above, returned £280, making a total of £543 15/6 from five tons. Apart from the ascertained richness of the ore it is of importance to have had it proved that the gold can be saved by the ordinary battery process, but at the same time the appearance of tlie ore would give the impression that it will pay to treat the tailings by cyanide. This ore was taken from three different reefs in the Welcome Jack, Claim.
