A tWo-rodmed cottage ajljoining the';| White Hart Hotel, Marton, was des«.;Jl troyed by fire at an early hour this ii morning. The sole occupant, an eldeift yi ly man named Hewit, an old Wri* |i ganui identity, perished in the flames^ M Deceased was the father of Mrs Sam%_lr Gibbons, of the White Hart Hotel. Iffel charred remains were found close to. B tbe door. He was evidently overcomeijl by smoke when endeavouring to -es_:l cape.
