POLICE COURT.
At the Police Court to-day, before Mr T. Hutchison, S.M., a man named Robert Collier pleaded guilty to stealing a hand-saw and chisel belonging to John McCauseland, and an axe, spade, and saucepan belonging to William Craig. Accused, Avho had 14 previous convictions for theft against him name, was sentenced to three months' hard labour. John Ryle, on a charge of drunkenness, was remanded for one week for medical treatment. James Somerville Avas fined 5/ for being found drunk, and five first Offending "drunks" Avctre convicted and discharged. An old man named David Cook, alias Daniel Cook, on a charge of being found by night Avithout lawful excuse on the premises of Hunter and Nolan, was discharged with a caution. Three young men named William Bennett, Charles Ellice, and Walter Hogan, Avere found
guilty of damaging the Harbour Board shed at Hobsonville to the extent of 10/. His Worship said the defendants' conduct indicated a very reprehensible spirit, and one which ought to be put doAvn. A fine of .CI and costs Avas imposed in each case. Bernard Moran Avas ordered to pay 2/6 a Aveek in support of his son at an industrial school.
